Margarita Mazo

Brief Biography:

Margarita Mazo specializes in ethnomusicology (Russian village music) and historical musicology (Russian music of the 19th and 20th centuries). She conducted field research in Russia and the United States on Russian secular and religious music and initiated a joint Russian-American research and representation project studying comparable cultures in the former Soviet Union and the United States. Prior to joining the School of Music at the Ohio State University, Dr. Mazo taught at the Leningrad Conservatory, Harvard University, and the New England Conservatory.

Professor Mazo received her Ph.D. from the Leningrad Conservatory.
