Abstract

Music exhibits a multitude of different kinds of structures. Some of these structures reflect acoustical, biological, perceptual, cognitive, historical, idiomatic, economic, formal, social, cultural, and other factors. This presentation describes several empirical studies that provide contrasting yet complementary insights into music.
