It is my personal view that the psychologists who participated in the creation of Muzak were morally delinquent when they failed to address the issue of the "reluctant listener". Where the US Supreme Court failed to support the rights of the individual not to be distrubed by unwanted music, psychologists' should have lobbied hard for installations to have personalized volume controls, or other freedom-preserving measures.
